A rare and very fine portrait in gouache on card(?) oval, 50 x 37 mm. In a fine antique sculptured frame.
Hedwig Eleonora van Sleeswijk-Holstein-Gottorp (1636-1715) became by marriage with Karel X Gustaaf of Sweden
in 1654 Queen of Sweden. After six years her husband died and for 12 years she was regent for her son Karel XI.
Here she is seen young and pretty but already widow. She reigned Sweden exemplary.
